Experience the Nature of this Island

Come to Cowan Point and choose a place to stand - anywhere between the Ecological Reserve, the golf course and the beach at Seymour Bay. The first thing you will notice - and the second, and the third - will be the views. It is almost impossible to put into words. A blue panorama that sweeps south across the Strait of Georgia to embrace the southern gulf islands, southeast to catch the glint of Vancouver's skyline and east to Burrard Inlet, Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver and Lion's Gate. You must see it to appreciate it. And you can see it from most parts of the property.

This is the nature of Cowan Point: the ever-changing play of sea and sky, boats, ships and seagulls, sunrises and seasons. It is a vista that invites the heart to soar. But don't stop there.

Get out and enjoy it. Step out onto the trail system that encircles the golf course. From here you can hike, walk, stroll or climb through an extensive trail system that has been delighting Bowen residents as much as the golf course itself. You and your kids can feel as safe to enjoy and explore the island as our resident deer.

Play the course. The 3,003 yard, par 35 public golf course was designed by Russ Olson to be both challenging and rewarding to players of all skill levels. And the beauty of the course has been a talking point since it opened. It may "only" be 9 holes but we bet it may turn out to be the best golf value in BC. Or just come and hit some irons in the practice range. The stalls are covered for year-round play. For more information, visit the website for Bowen Island Golf Club.

Set sail. Island life means life lived close to the water, and Seymour Bay is a perfect place to embark for sea-going adventures, whether swimming, diving, kayaking or taking off by boat. The Bowen Island Yacht Club offers sail training, sailboat racing, and social activities to get you started. Go by wind, motor or the power of your own oars/paddles, whichever suits you best.

The island is home to many sports enthusiasts. In addition to golf and hiking on land you can participate, or just enjoy watching baseball, soccer, gymnastics, tennis and much more. To sailing and boating you can also add diving and windsurfing. Plus, in the winter you are close to three major ski resorts: Grouse, Cypress and Whistler/Blackcomb.
