Cowan Point
The community that is coming to being at Cowan Point was first dreamed of and started right here a hundred years ago when George Cowan first took possession of this land and built cabins for those he felt would enrich the place: friends, family, writers and artists. To entice them he ran a shuttle service from Seymour Bay, fed them from his own small farm and established a post office and a small commissary. It was little and it was perfect.
Thank you, George Cowan
George Cowan's life's work has inspired what you find today and what is still to come. Soon you will witness the emergence of a small boutique size guesthouse/inn, accompanied by some heritage style beachside cabins (for visiting friends and family), a small convenient general store/cafe/sandwich shop, a green commons/special events and bocce lawn, a play area for small kids with swings, a simple "merry go round" and climbing structures. Seymour Landing as it will be is a tiny village - a hamlet, really. Not much in itself, but with plenty of charm to enhance the adjacent homes. Just a few steps away will be a landing dock/float for a fast passenger/commuter boat to downtown Vancouver, and a few steps in the opposite direction will lead you to the inviting pondside clubhouse of the Bowen Island Golf Course, the popular 9-hole public golf course that has been playing to enthusiastic reviews since its opening in 2006. Where Snug Cove is the busy visitors' portal to Bowen, Seymour Landing is poised to be its very own community gathering place.
